Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT

DBT is a type of treatment that focuses on teaching what may seem like opposite strategies - acceptance and change. Taught skills help individuals to cope with distressing emotions and integrates ways to implement change from unwanted or negative behaviors. One of the core techniques in DBT is the development of Mindfulness skills.

Symptoms of anxiety and depression are the most common underlying symptoms seen in the office and can become a crippling prison if left untreated. DBT has been shown to be an effective intervention for folks with anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, and people that need help regulating and managing their moods.

DBT originates from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) which teaches individuals to identify and change negative thinking patterns leading to positive changes in behavior.
